Children’s Dentistry
We encourage you to bring your child to see us by their first birthday. This gives us the opportunity to check that your children’s teeth are developing naturally. Our aim is to introduce a positive dental experience to our young patients in a fun way, so that everyone feels safe, comfortable and special.
Our children’s Therapist will be happy to discuss brushing techniques and general dietary advice. After the appointment we often give the children a special treat.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) started in January 2014 and provides access to benefits for basic dental services for eligible children. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is paid by Medicare.
The total benefit entitlement is capped at $1,000 per child over a two calendar year period. The CDBS has a means test, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or a relevant Australian Government payment. You can confirm your child’s eligibility and balance amount by calling Medicare on 132 011.
The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
Your children might be eligible if they are
- Aged between 2-17
- Receive, or their family, guardian or carer receives, certain government benefits such as Family Tax Benefit Part A
- Are eligible for Medicare

In 2014, benefits for dental treatment are limited to $1,000 per child over 2 consecutive calendar years.
If not all of the $1,000 is used in the first year, the remaining balance can be used in the second year, if your child is still eligible. Any remaining balance will not be carried forward at the end of the second year.
